We are Christian and Lotte Boehm. We bought Fuglsanggaard with 4.3 hectares of land in 2015. Even before we moved in, we were already thinking about creating a pick-your-own garden. About 30 years ago, we had a farm near Køge, where we picked strawberries, raspberries and corn, but most of what we grew was picked and sold at the green market. We loved this production, especially the self-picking part, but for many different reasons we sold the farm and moved to Copenhagen. We had a wonderful time in the city where our three children grew up, but eventually we wanted to return to the countryside and nature.

In the time we've lived here, our vegetable garden has grown year on year and we enjoy eating the fresh vegetables and berries all summer long. There is a world of difference between the freshly picked crops and those that have been stored in the kitchen/fridge for one or more days. We would like to share this experience with a lot of people.

In 2022, we decided it was time to start pick-your-own again. We planted 5000 strawberry plants, 300 raspberry bushes, a small number of various other berry bushes and they were ready for pick-your-own in the summer of 2023. We also planted 50 apple trees and 40 hazelnut bushes as well as a whole lot of other berry bushes.

Our vision.

We have a vision of a pick-your-own garden that is almost like a living greengrocer. We want to produce herbs, berries and vegetables throughout the summer period, so it's possible to pick fresh produce for lunch and dinner every day.

In the garden there will be several seating areas with tables and benches so our guests can take a rest or enjoy a packed lunch. There is a shaded area where a stroller can be placed, perfect for an afternoon nap.

We will have a small selection of berries and vegetables that are ripe for picking right now for sale in the farm shop every day. Should any of it not be sold the same day, it will be turned into jam, juice, ice cream or soups for later use or sale in the farm shop. The goal is that everything that is grown is either sold or used. In other words, no waste.

We will continuously offer tastings of different things. It could be jams, soups or salads, so you can get some inspiration on how to use the different ingredients. Over the summer, we'll do a couple of events where we'll make a little more of the tastings and fire up the grill or fire pit.
